Butterfly Cupcakes!

I made these cupcakes for my fellow grand jurors to celebrate our last day of jury duty! The butterflies are made out of chocolate. I traced a wing pattern with melted dark chocolate and then filled it in with orange. Before the chocolate hardened, I sprinkled them with white sprinkles to make them look like monarch butterflies. They were a big hit!

  1. I actually tried these this weekend. Had the hardest time, because to get the chocolate (melting wafers) to melt it was so hot it burned my hand and then it would start to cool and clog in the tip. Any tips?

    1. Hmm, the chocolate didn't seem to get too hot for me, but I did have trouble with the tip getting clogged. I used a ziploc bag instead of a decorating bag, and I found that if I held my fingers over the point it would warm up the chocolate just enough to unclog the tip. Once I got moving faster it seemed to happened less often.
